What does the snowflake icon on the tires of my MINI mean?

Winter tires can be identified by the mountain/snowflake icon and the letters M+S on the tire sidewall. So-called all-season tires with the M+S designation but no mountain/snowflake icon perform better in winter than summer tires. As a rule, all-season tires do not perform the same as winter tires.
