How do I replace the battery in my MINI vehicle key ?

To replace the vehicle key battery, proceed as follows: 

  1. Press and hold the button
  2. Then pull the cover out of the locking mechanism from the bottom end. 
  3. Pull the cover out of the upper locking mechanism, then remove the cover. 
  4. Use a coin to open the battery compartment lid, turning the coin counterclockwise. 
  5. Remove the battery from the battery housing.
  6. Insert a CR2032 3V battery with the positive terminal facing up.
  7. Use a coin to close the battery compartment lid, turning the coin clockwise. The lid is fully closed when the arrowheads, point toward each other.
  8. Insert the cover in reverse order. The cover must audibly engage at the top and bottom. Have old batteries disposed of by an authorized service center or another qualified service center or repair shop, or take them to a collection point.

Batteries contain harmful chemicals. It is prohibited by law to dispose of batteries together with household waste.
