Why does my MINI electric or Plug-In Hybrid vehicle not continuously charge at a constant charging power?

Charging with high power or high currents places high demands on all components involved, from the charging station and the high-voltage lines to the individual battery cell. The maximum charging power or the maximum charge current is therefore only achieved under optimal conditions. There are various  factors and conditions that may significantly reduce the charge current, and thus increase the charging time.  These include: the maximum available charge current of the charging station, the state of charge of the high-voltage battery unit, the temperature of the high-voltage battery unit, the interior air conditioning at departure time, the aging condition of the high-voltage battery unit and the number of DC charging sessions.
