How do I download a Remote Software Upgrade in my MINI?

Make sure your MINI's onboard systems are running the latest and greatest software. Remote Software Upgrade is a convenient, stress-free way to get the newest functions and features. On the interaction unit in your MINI and in the MINI App, you'll be notified about new available upgrades.

  1. Follow the notification and download the upgrade to your smartphone.
  2. Now connect your phone to your MINI via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. If your smartphone is connected via Bluetooth you connect Wi-Fi directly through the MINI App.
  3. Make sure to enable vehicle data access.
  4. Take a ride with the connected phone and the remote software upgrade will be transferred to your car. This may take several trips as the process will continue through the next drive if it gets interrupted.
  5. Once the transfer is complete turn off your car and follow the steps in the goodbye screen.
  6. You can either start the installation directly on the interaction unit or from the MINI App.
  7. Make sure your car is safely parked as you will not be able to move it during the upgrade.
  8. Another message confirms the successful upgrade.
