How should I clean the fabric soft top of my MINI Cooper Convertible?

Use a special convertible top cleaner to remove heavy soiling, especially in the case of lightly-colored convertible tops. Proceed as follows when cleaning:

  1. Spray the convertible top with the convertible top cleaner. Follow the manufacturer's instructions.
  2. Use a damp sponge to foam the convertible top cleaner, moving the sponge in a circular motion.
  3. Rinse vehicle with ample amounts of water or finish washing the vehicle in the car wash. Follow notes regarding automatic car washes.

 

It is not necessary to waterproof the convertible top. For a beading effect, a suitable waterproofing agent can be applied to the convertible top fabric using a sponge. Suitable cleaners and vehicle care products are available from an authorized service center or another qualified service center or repair shop.
